Johnny Shooshine and I hit up Redbones again this Wednesday. We had a lot of shit to shoot so we loaded up. This post doesn’t contain tasting notes, merely impressions of flavor and quality. I was super excited to see their list included the awesome Racer 5. I’d recently picked up a six pack of Racer so I convinced Shooshine to grab one while I indulged in the Redbones’ cask conditioned special which happened to be BBC’s River Ale. Continue reading

Night @ Redbones, Take 2
Long Trail Centennial Red
Working in Natick I’ve gotten to know a couple of the purveyors of fine liquor out there. I picked up some bombers at Fannons where the people have always seemed super sweet and the craft beer section overflows with quality stock. One of them was Long Trail Centennial Red, an imperial at 7.9%. I was attracted by its sticker price under $6 but as I’ve articulated in previous posts, I have my reservations about Reds. Actually, that’s being kind, I hate the fuckers. Does no one else feel like they’re drinking liquid copper when they’re sipping a red? No? Just me? Fine. I’m the weirdo. Great. Thanks. Thanks a lot. Whatever. Continue reading
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel. Whu said wha’?
We’re one of those bizarrely lucky couples that have fantastic neighbors. On one side we have a cute, older Greek couple who like to tell me I’m working too hard in the yard and who hand me homemade cookies over the fence whenever they have extra. On the other side we have a peace-and-love hippy couple who can’t get enough of our giant Mastiff Hero and bring him organic treats from the far-too-expensive all-natural pet boutique. These neighbors presented me with a gift of Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel and boy was I a happy camper. Weihenstephaner is the granddaddy of legacy breweries, laying claim to being the oldest! They have a fantastic reputation for producing world class beer. So yeah, I was happy with my little gift. Continue reading
Give Sam some Latitude
O’Flanagan pooed on this brew a few months ago so I wasn’t interested in shelling out $16 for a mixed 12 pack in order to try it. Instead I grabbed a single 12oz and figured I would take on the challenge tonight. Continue reading
We cool, we cool
I had a lovely dinner the other night with my wife’s family and some close family friends. All told there were 9 adults, one baby and a dog. We split pretty easily into ideological camps, the five of us that were under 40s were liberal, the four over 50s were conservative. The dog and baby were the independents among the group. Continue reading
